Testimonials
Linda’s work, honed over many years, has a unique style. With echoes of Picasso, the work concentrates almost entirely on people and their relationships often with great insight. Bold and vibrant colours, strong lines and intense images produce an arresting effect on the viewer which remain and intensify with familiarity with the works.

In all the work I have by Linda Samson I sense the person she is portraying, and I feel drawn to them. I find the way they fill their space very satisfying.

In Linda’s work, forms based on sound draftmanship and rich colour combinations allow rhythmic compositions, subtly expressing moods and deep emotions. Drawings, Paintings, prints, ceramic panels, painted pottery, free standing ceramic figures or sculptures, portraits and illustrations, her work is never sentimental, but expressive, very beautiful and with echoes of traditional and world forms from Byzantium to Matisse.

I like the way Linda continuously develops specific themes to produce a very distinctive artistic expression. Her use of ceramic tile as a medium adds a very distinctive quality to the work both in appearance as well as in the craft and skill required and uniqueness of the work.

Much of Linda's work involves the study of human attitudes, particularly of women. Each figure portrays, in a subtle way, an attitude or feeling that is usually reflective or pensive. Often there is ambiguity in the expression. The work always has a calmness or stillness to it but is, nonetheless, fluid. There are modern references, and the work is very contemporary but also has references to classical art that creates a sense of timelessness about the image.
