Collection: Spanish Journey

I made these drawings after the experience of three visits to the Alpujarras in southern Spain, where village life was still dominated by Catholicism and the past: religious festivals, an irrigation system left by the Moors, shrapnel damage from the Civil war, women in black, deserted villages. These visits coincided with certain changes in my life, the energy from which is, I think, reflected in the drawings.
