This portrait came about because I set up a lottery to raise £2000 for the charity Sense by trekking in the Nepalese Himalayas. The prize was a portrait which I would paint on my return The winner was Anne’s husband and he chose his wife as the subject. She is sitting on the couch at home with a picture of her grandchild beside her.
